My take on Driven 2019

I attended Driven 2019 at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon this year and it did not disappoint. This was the first year I have been able to make it to the Driven show and I had high expectations based on what I had heard from others who had attended before.

For those who are not familiar with what Driven is, it’s a car show that travels across Canada and puts on one of the best modern car shows. For more information about Driven, check out their website at http://drivenshow.ca.

After parking my 2016 Kia Sedona in the far reaches of the parking lot I was able to spend several minutes wandering around checking out the line-up of cars out in the parking lot. After seeing the rows of Subaru STis and Toyota 86/BRZ/FRSs, I knew that this was going to be a good show.

Best part of the show

The best part of the show was definitely the Spec-D drifting. While I am not a huge drifting fan, this was an incredible experience to have up close. A few times when the cars got really close to the barrier I felt a few chunks of rubber fly up and hit me in the face. It was really neat to see these amateur drifters putting on such a great show for the fans watching and for the people doing ride-alongs.

My picks

  • The coolest car – 1969 Nissan Skyline GT-R. This car is just cool, plain and simple.
  • The worst car – The exposed carbon body R35 Nissan GTR. I like a little bit of exposed carbon but this was too much for me.
  • The biggest wing – The green Toyota 86
  • The wildest thing I saw – The wooden valve cover on the RB26 motor
  • The most tame car – AMG GTS. It was stock and, while really nice, was very blah compared to the crazier cars all around it
  • Best overall – Wide-body NSX. The wide-body kit with the air suspension was just incredible. The photos I took don’t do it justice.

Overall I really enjoyed the Driven 2019 show. The cars were really cool, there was a massive turnout and the parking lot had a lot of really awesome cars in it. Other than it being quite crowded and the cars really being tight together, the car show was a massive success and I highly recommend going if you’re anywhere near of their many shows across Canada.
