New halo cars coming ahead of 2020
With the new hypercar regulations for WEC in 2020 and the homologation requirements of a minimum of 25 units to be produced, this means that we will see new road going halo cars from each of the new entrants in LMP1. The first cars to be referenced to as hypercars were the Holy Trinity of the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1. Since then much lesser supercars have far exceeded their levels of performance. The newest hypercars all have 800+ HP from their gasoline engine and most have hybrid technology on top of that to produce in excess of 1000 HP. In addition to simply being more powerful,…

Who is the next star of Formula 1?
There are many new faces coming to Formula 1 next season and half of the grid will be under the age of 25. Nearly all of the current stars of F1 are nearing the end of their careers, leaving room for a new set of superstars on the grid. With Kimi Raikkonen moving to Sauber for the next, and presumably final, 2 years of his career, Fernando Alonso retiring at the end of 2018 and Lewis Hamilton openly talking about retirement there is room for a new group of drivers to become the stars of F1. But who will they be? Daniel Ricciardo was set to be the next big…

New LMP1 hypercar regulations coming in 2020
Starting in the 2020/2021 season of the WEC there will be a new set of LMP1 cars set to battle it out for endurance racing supremacy thanks to an all new set of regulations using hypercar based bodies, road going powertrains and requiring a minimum number of units to be manufactured each year – 25 in 2020 and 100 in 2021. On December 5, 2018 the FIA voted in favor of the new changes. This is all very exciting news as the new rules have sparked renewed life into an otherwise dying category. In recent years LMP1 has lost major manufacturer teams such as Audi and Porsche due to soaring…

Electricification of the auto industry
The electric car. Many tout this as the future of the automobile, and maybe it is. While electric vehicles have been made popular in the last 20 years or so, the electric automobile has existed for nearly 200 years already. Due to a variety of issues related to electric cars in the mid 1800’s they did not gain popularity until the mid 1990’s with the release of the EV1. The GM EV1 was leased by General Motors from 1996-1999 and was the first mass produced electric car. The car only lasted for 3 model years until it was famously killed off by the company after receiving pressure from the oil…

Toyota bringing back the iconic MR2?
According to a post on Motor1.com Toyota and Subaru are coming together to revive the MR2. The MR2 is an icon from the era of Japanese sports cars such as the Toyota Supra, Nissan Skyline GT-R and the Mazda RX-7 so it is very exciting to hear that Toyota is planning on bringing back this mid-engine, rear drive car to partner along side the GT86 and Supra in their sports car line-up. The render from Motor1.com is interesting and, personally doesn’t get me that excited as I find it a little reserved. A post from grandtournation.com shows the possibilities of what this car could look like. The sharp lines and…
